Holiday
Edition
During this most wonderful time of the year, people are
really starting to get into the holiday spirit. In other words, students are
slacking on their studying and instead munching on all the goodies while
watching Christmas movies on Lifetime! I have an array of great recipes that
have been passed down to me that will go perfectly with the holiday spirit! The
first two recipes are cookies that my family and I make every year around this
time! Also these cookies serve as great gifts you can bring to your internships
and make your bosses happy or even make them for your boyfriend or girlfriends
parents! I guarantee you will get a raise and impress your possible future
in-laws! The first recipe is of Rogolo cookies. This mouth-watering recipe was
passed down to my mother’s mom (my grandma) from her best friend Ida. These are
probably the most amazing cookies I have ever eaten! The same goes for the butter cookies.
Warning: Will not
be able to stop eating the cookies!
Recipe #1: Rogolo Cookies (cream cheese cookies)
Ingredients:
½ lb. sweet butter
½ lb. cream cheese
1 egg
1/3-cup sugar
1-teaspoon vanilla
Peach jelly
Apricot jelly (I don’t have exact measurements for the jelly
or preserves but that makes it interesting!)
Raspberry jelly
Walnuts
Preparation:
1.
Mix sweet butter, cream cheese and flour
together in a bowl. Then add the egg, sugar and vanilla.
2.
Refrigerate the dough for 1 hour
3.
Roll out dough and cut it into medium size
triangles
4.
Fill the middle of each triangle with any of the
jellies or preserves
5.
Mix on top grounded up walnuts
6.
Fold each side of the triangle to keep jelly in
7.
Bake in the oven on 325 degrees for about 20
minutes
After this gift from above comes out of the oven, brace
yourself for these things to melt in your mouth. But literally they will melt
in your mouth so wait at least 5 minutes to eat them so you don’t burn your
tongue! Here is the original recipe from the old cookbook:
Recipe #2: Ida’s butter cookies

1 lb. of sweet butter
4 ½-5 cups flour
3 eggs
1 cup of sugar

2. Refrigerate dough for about an hour
3. Roll out dough
4. Use cookie cutters to make awesome designs
5. Add sprinkles
6. Bake on 325 degrees for about 20 minutes or until browning occurs.
Delicious!
